Admissions
The admissions process is the start of a lasting relationship with HCA. Your admissions officer will introduce you to the personal experience the academy is known for. His or her mission is to understand your career goals, help you select the right course that fit your needs, and ensure you find a class schedule that suits your lifestyle. HCA has three (3) intakes every academic year; January, May, and September.
Prospective students and guardians are invited to learn more about the admissions requirements at HCA for your course of interest and the application process. Our Admissions officer will be happy to guide you through a successful application. Due to a high demand and limited slots, we strongly recommend to all students to apply early. To maintain the academic excellence of our courses and accreditation, the Academy maintains strict admission requirements and criteria as detailed below;
HCA mininum Requirements;
Diploma Programmes
- - KCSE Mean grade C- (Minus) with C- (Minus) or above in English or Kiswahili and a D (Plain) in Mathematics
- IB/ A – Level 4 Credits.
- IGCSE 4 'O' Passes with D+ (Plus) and above and/or equivalent of a mean grade of C- (Minus) with D (plain) in Math, and English or Kiswahili
Certificate Programmes
- - KCSE Mean grade D+ (Plus) with D+ (Plus) or above in English or Kiswahili and a D- (Minus) in Mathematics
- - IB/ A - Level 3 Credits
- - IGCSE 3 'O' Level Passes with D (Plain) and above and/or equivalent of Mean grade D+ (Plus) with D- (Minus) in Math and English or Kiswahili
Short Courses
- - Proficiency in spoken and written English and/ or Kiswahili language.
- - Any other high school qualification subject to approval by the HCA Admissions Office
- - Diploma from a recognized institution and approved by the Hotel & Chefs Academy
- - In addition we require Non- English speaking nationals to have a proficiency test in English

To determine an applicant’s interest, qualifications and suitability for their
chosen program of enrolment, an interview will be scheduled/ conducted.

Apprentices
Young adults working in the hospitality industry with no recognized certification.
Entrepreneurs
Business owners in the hospitality industry but with no relevant qualifications.
Career changers
professionals in other occupations who have found their passion in hospitality.
Home managers
Untrained personnel working in domestic households who aspire to sharpen their hospitality and catering knowledge and skills.
